Our Story

IMGM2205-RETOUCHEDAfter she graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC in 1992, Marie Gattacieca, born and raised in Grenoble in the French Alps, has always had in mind to come back and live in the US. Unfortunately, none of the opportunities she might have had throughout the various positions that she held during her 15 years long career in the Communications field had managed to get her there.

In 2007, when her husband Stéphane and a friend of his started to investigate about the possibility to open a French Restaurant in Ocala, north of Orlando, she was their first supporter.

Thanks to her background in marketing and communications she has been of great help and support to launch and promote their restaurant.

Also born and raised in the French Alps, in the city of Annecy, which is almost as famous for its beautiful lake as for the large variety of mountain pasture cheeses you can find there, Stéphane got to learn how to cook from a very young age, under the supervision of a father who used to be a professional pastry chef.

In 2008, the desire to live and share his passion for food lead Stéphane to put his former job as an investment banker into parentheses to attend advanced cooking classes at the world famous Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon and to train as an assistant manager for a few months in a restaurant owned by a friend of his in Lyon. A year later, Stéphane, Marie and their two sons, then aged 10 & 13, took the plunge and crossed the ocean along with their friend and his family, landing in Ocala first, then moving down to Boca Raton in 2014.

“After 5 years in Ocala, my wife and I have decided to leave the green pastures and majestic old live oak trees to embrace the vibrant lifestyle of South Florida. We love it here and we are happy to share our passion for food and wines with you!!”
